Hi everyone,

I’m including the notes for our Life Builders course in this posting. Be sure to have a copy with you when you attend your Life Groups. If you can’t go to Life Group this week, why don’t you download a study and spend some time going through it. Any time that we spend with God is valuable time.

We’ve had some wonderful times at church recently. God is moving in our 10for10 program and we’re seeing Him not only bring finances in, but also seeing people’s faith begin to be engaged. God is showing Himself faithful. He’s always looking to bless His kids. 2 Chronicles 16:9 is a wonderful verse letting us know that He is always searching for people to reveal Himself to.

This weekend will be a treat as we’ve got David and Natalie Tensen coming to minister. David & Natalie were part of our church family for about ten years when they heard and responded to God’s call to the missionfield of Japan. With their second child due in May, the Tensen’s have recently relocated back to the Sunshine Coast. We’ll hear testimony of the goodness of God this weekend.

On Sunday May 4th, we’ll be having a Church Family BBQ with a difference. To celebrate our 12 week Life Group challenge, we’ll be going to Rob and Tina’s property for a BBQ, bonfire, and all-round fun afternoon/evening. Details will follow shortly, but please plan to attend. We’ll have the usual sausages and drinks available for sale. BYO chairs, cricket bats, guitars, etc. It’s going to be a great celebration of life together.

May 11 is Mother’s Day and we will again ensure that our Mum’s are blessed during our church service. Don’t wait to appreciate someone until you don’t have them! We’ll conclude May with ministry from Ps Michael Mackerell from Caboolture Christian Church. His wife, Ps Karen ministered powerfully last month, so I’m excitedly waiting for the Word God will speak through Ps Michael.

Have a great week church. Choose to break free of those things that would bind you. Incline your ear to the voice of the Holy Spirit and He will guide you safely through life. Blessings to you,

Ps Kelly

ENews 5 March 2008

Hi family,

It’s been a while since I stopped to say hello via email, so thought I’d start today! Our Building Foundations series has been going well, with many people refreshed in their understanding of some of our foundational beliefs as Christians. Remember that if you would like a copy of the study notes, just go to our website http://www.bribieccc.com/ to download them. Life Groups are well-underway. If you’re not part of one, why not join a group this week!

So, what’s coming up at Bribie in the next few weeks?

THIS WEEKEND - We are going to take up a miracle offering this weekend - to the glory of God! This offering will begin to fund some building refurbishments to enable us to open our facilities up to and to be a blessing to the community of Bribie Island. Beyond the money side of things, I’m believing that everyone who gives will be exercising their faith. This is a great thing family! The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” So often, we walk by what we can see and what we can figure out rather than from a position of faith. As you exercise your faith this weekend and over the 10for10 period, remember the words of Psalm 34:8 (NKJV) “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”

WEEKEND OF IMPACT

We’ve got three great speakers travelling to Bribie to bring the Word of God to our church next weekend. Please make every effort to attend these meetings with an open and receptive heart. I assure you, God will speak! With both a Men’s Breakfast and a Women’s Afternoon tea, this weekend is perfect for everyone! Register this weekend at Parables Bookshop or call the church office.

WOMEN’S CONFERENCES - Some of our ladies are away in Sydney this week for the Colour Conference. I’m looking forward to the good reports that will come from that time with God. Ladies remember the State Women’s Conference ‘One Voice’ is on from May 29-31 in Caloundra. Spots are limited. Please see Ps Kelly or Cynthia if you’re interested in attending.

EASTER SERVICES - Easter is fast approaching - can you believe it?!?! Our 1hr Good Friday service is at 9am on 21 March with our Easter Sunday celebration service at 9am on March 23rd. The combined churches Walk of Faith is on again on Good Friday and the Uniting Church is again hosting a dawn service on Woorim Beach on Easter Sunday.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday. Until then, have a wonderful week.

Blessings,

Ps Kelly

Life Groups 2008

Welcome back to Life Groups for 2008. This week most of our Life Groups have kicked of the year with a bang, enjoying a range of activites from BBQ’s to pancake nights to doing coffee and lunch at a local cafe. From all reports, it’s been a great week getting to know everyone. Some groups will begin this coming week with some more fun times ahead.

‘Stick em up!’ was the title of my message last Sunday. I spoke on the glue that holds things together, stating that our Life Group Ministry is the glue that will cause this church to stick together. From that position of unity, we can focus up and out and see the explosion that God has planned for our Island. John 17 sees three distinct prayers that Jesus prays - for Himself (connecting with God), for His disciples (connecting with each other) and for all who will believe (connecting with new people). Everyone who was in church last Sunday received a copy of Word for Today, which is an Aussie devotional that all of us can use daily to connect with God. Life Groups provide opportunity to connect with each other and to build friendships with new people. My encouragement is that all at BCCC find themselves connected in a Life Group - connected to God, to each other and to new people. It’s a 12 week challenge I call all to accept. At the end of the 12 week period, we’ll celebrate at our Breakfree Camp on the Sunshine Coast.

Remember that this weekend, we have Vision Sunday! Come expecting to hear from God and you most definately will. We’re also conducting a prayer meeting on Sunday at 5pm to continue to pray for the children of Bribie.

 See you in church family!

Ps Kelly

2008 - The Year of Explosion

year-of-explosion-2008.jpg

Hi all,

I have named 2008 The Year of Explosion. Just as a bomb explodes up and then out, so I believe we as the church of God need to look up and out. We need to focus our attention up and out. We need to focus our energy up and out. I’d encourage you this year to develop your skills at looking up to Jesus and out to others. God has great things in store for our fellowship and I’m excited to be walking the journey with you.

Life Groups will be up and running soon, so stay tuned for more details there. If you want to connect with people, you need to be in a Life Group.

Blessings,

Ps Kelly

October 12th, 2007 - The Year of Opportunity

Hi church!

Ps Chris and our youth are ministering in Gayndah this weekend. Please pray for safety and for the Gospel of Jesus to be relevantly and effectively revealed.

How are you smart? Are you smarter than a 5th grader? My sermon was called ‘Are you smarter than a 5th grader’ last Sunday because I believe that the answer is a resounding ‘yes’, but only if you use the unique gifts and talents that God has given each one of you. I spoke from Luke 19 - the story of Zacchaeus’ encounter with Jesus and how each of us can be smart if we:

  • IDENTIFY OUR GIFT
  • MEASURE OUR GIFT
  • USE OUR GIFT
  • EXPAND OUR GIFT

Please remember that all messages are recorded. Sharon Kempster takes orders personally, or see Parables Bookshop for details.

September 12th, 2007 - The Year of Opportunity

Hi church!

Ps Chris preached from 1 Samuel 17 - the epic story of David & Goliath. He identified 3 signposts of your spirit getting old:

•1)     Your vision will become dim

•2)     We become cynical people

•3)     Self wins

Church, remember to lift your eyes to see the greatness of your God, refusing to allow your circumstances to dictate the size of your God!

What’s On…

Kids Kamp United: Our Kamp is only 2 weeks away! Leaders and children alike are excited about what God is going to do during this week away together. God is a God of wonders and a God of the impossible. Church, would you believe with me for an extra $2000 to come in between now and September 24th. We have a whole group of kids and junior leaders who have financial situations limiting them from coming. We don’t want anyone to miss out! Please ask God if you might be able to contribute financially to help kids come on Kamp. Most importantly, ask our Incredible God for His provision for His Kids on His Kamp.

Focus Team: Please note that there will be no Focus Team meeting on September 24th due to Kids Kamp. We will now meet the following Monday night, 7pm @ church.

Mercy Shop: Vacancies are available for retail work in the Mercy Shop (Mon & Thurs PM) - see Ps Bernd for details. New rosters for September are available on the back table.

BCCCare & Cadet Training and Employment: If you are interested in rebuilding your career, upgrading your skills or just wanting to make a difference, then please talk to Ps Bernd about the variety of opportunities available.

Combined Churches Women’s Event: Saturday night, October 13th @ Caboolture. It would be tremendous for the women of BCCC to join with the wider Christian community around worship and The Word. More details to follow soon.

Hillsong Men’s Conference: This conference is coming up quickly. It’s on November 2nd-3rd in Sydney. Invest into your future and invest into this conference. For details, go to mensconference@hillsong.com

Have a wonderful week church,

Ps Kelly

August 14th, 2007 - The Year of Opportunity

Hi church!

Some thoughts from Sunday’s message on Joining the Lifesavers:

  • Swim between the flags
  • Danger exists in the water
  • Drifting is dangerous
  • Murky water reduces vision
  • Swim in pairs
  • Turbulent water denies breath and direction is lost
  • The lifeguard wants you to enjoy life
  • Don’t blame the lifeguard - listen to Him!
  • The lifeguard can save you when He hears your cry for help

1 John 3:16 (NIV)

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”

Jesus is our Saviour - our lifesaver. Let’s work with Him to see others know the truth and our Island impacted for His glory!
